Dr Chua’s principles stem from his diverse educational and professional journey which began in 2011 when he graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery. With a drive to hone his skills in general dentistry since early days, he started practising in the areas of bonded direct restoration, same-day crown, dental implant, and laser dentistry, while he continued to educate himself by taking up several local and international courses. He continues to develop additional skills and new professional competencies by attending dental courses on smile makeovers with ceramic veneers, clear aligner therapy with Invisalign, and dental implants, which earned him the credential of being an Invisalign Platinum provider since 2016 and a SMART dentist on IAOMT. In 2017, Dr Chua began lecturing regionally in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, and South Korea using a multidisciplinary approach on several topics that were advances in dentistry. Some include the management of aesthetic dentistry, laser dentistry, and digital dentistry, while also covering direct-bonded composite and indirect ceramic restoration. Identifying himself as a clinician first and speaker second, he discovered that lecturing helped bolster his clinical skills, especially in his areas of interest, namely aesthetics, general, and laser dentistry. Dr Chua obtained a Certificate of Competency for botulinum toxin, an associate fellowship from the World Clinical Laser Institute, and Standard Proficiency from the Academy of Laser Dentistry. This eventually led to his induction into the International College of Dentists as a fellow in 2017.Dr Chua had also previously served on the council of the College of General Dental Practitioners Singapore (CGDP) and the Singapore Dental Association (SDA).
